Homemade Doll Car

My girls fell in love with a big plastic pink doll car at a big name store, but the problem was it was a big plastic pink car that cost way too much.  When we arrived home they decided to make their own with items from our recycled craft box.  I just love how creative my girls can be!

We used: a box for the car, canister lids for steering wheels, foil to cover side mirror, bottle cap for horn, wheels from plastic totes, ribbon for seat belts, cupcake wrappers for headlights, and the wind shield is a piece of clear plastic.  Hot glue holds everything in place.
So far our American Girls have traveled to China, Florida, and California in their new car.

I love ideas that use cardboard!!

I'd love for you to link up to our "Crafts for Under Twenty-Somethings" Thursdays this week! It's a blog hop specifically for kids and teens ideas, so your ideas would be perfect! I'll hope you'll come link up this Thursday.

I am so proud of them for accepting that some things are just too expensive and going home and making their own with you supplying the materials. They did a great job.

What a pack of cuties. Wait? They dollies came to China and I missed them? Darn :-) Maybe next time.

By the by, this reminds me of trying to make a horse out of a cardboard box for a body, and empty coke bottle for legs. I even got the mechanics to work in a way that, by pulling the reins, the legs would move (I strung them together). I was so upset when I realized I weighed to much though. Haha. Good times!

That's were the reason they drove to China, they honked! Next time I'll tell them to honk louder!!! They kept saying we need to visit China to see our "Blog friend."

Cute! We're doing a transportation theme next week, so something like this would be perfect!
