Fruit of the Spirit

Olive made this cute Fruit Of The Spirit Tree to go along with her co-op class. She is also singing the same song in church choir at the end of the month.

The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self control.

International Day Favorites

Our homeschool co-op put on a fun international day and I thought these were super cool ideas.

Paris class:  Eiffel Tower made out of plastic cups, divided by square cardboard and then glued  together.

Mexico class: This was Olive's class and they made Indigenous Mexican Indian vests with paper bags from the grocery store and decorated them. Be sure to cut out a head and fringe on the bottom.

Spain class: These flowers were made out of tissue paper,  layer the paper, grab in the middle, and give a good twist, then tie together with a pipe cleaner.

FIAR-The Duchess Bakes A Cake

The Duchess Bakes A Cake by Virginia Kahl is a funny, creative and rhythmical book that we read with our Five in A Row Homeschool Co-op. There are a ton of activities you can do with this book. We talked about the feudal system, not a length, but based it more on kings, queens, and their helpers. The girls learned about leavens in baking and how it's important to follow a recipe. We baked a cake and learned about color mixing. They also learned about a family cote of arms and the importance of their symbols.

We read this book around Valentine's Day and made these cute little Valentine exchange boxes to complete our Co-op.

FIAR- A New Coat for Anna

Olive had a great time rowing the book, A New Coat for Anna, at her Five In A Row Co-op this week. The girls enjoyed playing a bartering game, dying cloth with strawberries and carrots, learning to weave, and making hand print sheep with cotton. The girls in the group are between the ages of 5-6, but this would also be a great book to revisit when they get older.
