We are back!
Here is what we've been doing this summer...in photos.
We celebrated 2 birthdays, had a ton of company, and dusted off the canner for summer harvest.
We are getting ready to start school and another year of Classical Conversations.
How is your summer so far?

Bubble Snakes
The girls enjoyed making bubble snakes this afternoon. This is a fun summertime project that we learned how to make from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
Items Needed:
-1 plastic bottle with bottom cut off
-half of an old washcloth
-rubber band
-bubbles
Just dip the washcloth bottom of your bottle into the bubble solution and give a big hearty blow!

Back From PA
We had a great time in PA. The girls were so good on our 12 hour trip. We sure did a ton of fun things, from riding in a horse and buggy, visiting family, Hershey Chocolate Factory, Amish farms, Philadelphia, ate great Pennsylvania Dutch food, and visited an old fashioned amusement park called Knoebles- just to name a few.....

Swim Team and an important link!
Olive just finished her first summer of swim team and she loved it! When she first started it was hard for her to do a lap and now she's swimming 15 laps per practice and even won a ribbon in freestyle! I am so proud of her for getting up each morning and giving it her best.
Jem is now taking swim lessons as she is fearless and wants to do everything just like her big sis. With that in mind I thought it was a good idea for her to have proper lessons.
Please take the time and read this article about swimming and drowning....drowning is a silent thing. Click HERE to read the article.

Summer Nature Study Schedule
My girls love being outside so I thought I would put together a summer nature study to follow.
June: Birds- name, visual identity, song
Ocean- plants, shells, mammals, crustaceans
July: Amphibians- life cycle, parts, habitats, identity
Butterflies- life cycle, watch it grow
August: Rocks- types, visual identity
Along with our study each girls will keep a nature journal, nothing fancy, just another way to record what they see by drawing, sketching, and doodling. These take along guides found here at Amazon should help us on our nature journey. I hope you come along too!
