Jem really enjoys her special sensory tubs. I added the rainbow rice and orzo we colored a few weeks ago, scooping spoons, egg holder, pom-poms, beads, tubes, pipe cleaners, big tweezers, and shells. I really have a good time putting these together, but the real master at this is Mari-Ann over at Counting Coconuts. They are really beautiful creations.
This magnifying glass was a big hit with Jem. She loved seeing all the colors pop out of her sensory tub.

On a side note, today I am featured on Just Like June. I am so excited so please stop by her lovely blog and check it out. She has many wonderful ideas for old-fashioned living in the modern world.

Sensory Play With Colored Rice
This is the first time I have made colored rice and orzo, but it was super easy and the girls can't wait to get their hands on it.
Making colored rice or orzo:
- add 3 drops of food coloring to rice.
- add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to rice.
- mix well in a plastic bag.
- allow to dry for a few hours before you store or play with it.
Pink and Green Mama has some fun ideas with rainbow rice here.

Playdough Ballerina
This is how you can find Jem on most days...
Jem wakes up and puts on her favorite ballerina tutu. She loves to sit at her little table molding Playdough. My happy and stubborn child always seems to have a a tune in her head and you'll find her dancing from place to place. I love how the light shines on her in this photo.
We followed this playdough recipe from
Montessori Moments.
1 cup of flour

It's a date!
Dates with your children are just as important as dates with you spouse. I was lucky enough to have some alone time with Jem today. We enjoyed playing together at the local children's museum. It was nice to observe her playing with out the aid of Olive, especially when creating art. We showcased Jem's creations on the living room table for daddy to see when he came home from work.
