We purchased some new paint brushes and small canvases to paint, but instead of just painting I thought it would be fun to set up a still-life scene for the girls. I used a play scarf, bowl, banana, and peach.
At first Olivia got frustrated because her peach did not look like the real one. We had a talk about how art is a process, a way to express what you see, and how you feel. I think her finished product turned out great and I was proud of her for sticking with it.
We also used recycled paint trays left over from a cookie package. I blogged about that HERE.
I am also linking up with Welcome To My Wonderland to her little masterpieces link up.
funny that we did this on the same day! we'll have to do some still life *painting* now, too! we just tried it with drawing so far. happy art-making!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great idea and the
ReplyDeleteway you explained to Olive that sometimes we have to practice a lot (like swim team) to get better at things, was a good lesson to learn. She and Jem both look so intent and into doing their best.
those are great! still life painting is so hard my oldest had to work on it this summer.
ReplyDeletethanks for linking up, hope you link up next monday too. plus its an entry in the giveaway! :)
Great idea! I'm going to have to try that with my boys.
ReplyDeleteYour girls are VERY good! Can't wait for my toddler to be able to do a little more. Though he LOVES painting already!

ReplyDeleteWe're just starting to go more in depth with painting this year. Mixing colors is our challenge at the moment. LOL
