Simply Healthy-Homemade Veggie Wash

September is here, which mean cooler temps, flannel sheets, shorts and long sleeves, brightly colored trees, pumpkins, crock pots, and yummy scuppernong grapes. Each Wednesday I will focus my blog posts on something that's simply healthy.

A few years ago we use to use FIT to wash our vegetables and fruit, but now we just make our own and it works great.

Homemade Veggie Wash Recipe:
1 cup water
1 cup vinegar
2 TBS baking soda
2 TBS lemon juice
Directions:
-Mix ingredients then pour in clean spray bottle. Spray vegetables and fruit generously. Sit for 5 minutes then rinse off well.
-Make sure to first mix ingredients in deep container since there will be some fizzing from the baking soda and vinegar.

    2. Great! I will try this! Do you keep it in the fridge or cabinet?

    4. Thanks, we keep our veggie wash in a spray bottle in the cabinet. We either spray one piece and wash it off or after we go to the market we soak it in the sink. Karen

    5. Thanks for the veggie wash recipe...we ran out of FIT about a week ago and I have been stalling cause it is so expensive...this will work much better!!! If it's ok, can I post the recipe on my blog with a link back to you? :)

    6. Do you have to re-make this wash often (I'm asking because of the fizzy-ness) or does it keep?

I have a recipe from Oprah with Grapefruit Seed Extract I was going to mix up.
